About Stroomprijs: sources and method
Who makes Stroomprijs, where the prices come from, how the estimate incl. tax works, affiliate links and contact.
Who makes this site?
Stroomprijs is a small, independent project by CerberosTech. The site is not affiliated with any energy supplier, EPEX SPOT or the Dutch government. There is no editorial team; the prices are fetched automatically and the site is rebuilt every hour.
Sources
- Prices: EnergyZero, which publishes the EPEX SPOT day-ahead prices for the Dutch bidding zone. The same auction results are on the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform.
- Taxes: the energy tax rates of the Belastingdienst (the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration) and the VAT rate.
- Contract information: the ACM (Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets) and its consumer site ACM ConsuWijzer.
How the prices are calculated
- The market prices shown are bare day-ahead prices, excl. VAT.
- The "all-in" estimate is calculated per hour as (market price + supplier markup + energy tax) × 1.21. The markup is 0 by default; enter the markup from your own contract for a better estimate. Fixed costs are not included. See "How we calculate".
- Every page shows when the prices were last fetched. If a fetch fails, the page says so and shows the last known prices.
- Guides show an "Updated on" date for the last change to their content.
Affiliate links
Some pages contain affiliate links, for example to bol.com (a Dutch online shop). If you buy something through such a link, we may receive a small commission. You pay nothing extra, and it has no influence on the prices or the explanations.
